Shootings and other crime-related incidents

Someone fired rounds into a Ridgeland home Sunday, July 12, as a possible act of retaliation, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. No one was hurt by the gunfire.

Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 1891 Fordville Road around 5 a.m. The house had been hit several times by gunfire, said Chief Deputy Roy Hughes.

The residents said a family member may have gotten into an argument earlier at Boss Pool Hall in Wagon Branch. The gun fire may have been retaliatory, Hughes said.

On Friday, July 10, Ridgeland police officers were called to investigate a stolen laptop computer that showed up at Lowcountry Pawn.

The laptop came from a home on the 4400 block of Bee’s Creek Road. The owners, who were away, were contacted and confirmed that the computer was theirs.
Charges are pending against two men.

In a separate investigation, the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force charged a Hardeeville man with trafficking crack cocaine on Friday, July 10.
Officers searched 224 School Cut Road and arrested Sheldon Anderson, 39, of Hardeeville.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has recently received a number of stolen utility trailer reports. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 726-7779.
