Hardeeville Hurricanes score first against Bluffton
Submitted by Mack2 on Sat, 08/23/2008 - 10:30pm.
The Hardeeville-Bluffton football game, that was rained out last night, finally got played tonight to a huge crowd at Bluffton High School. Things started very well for the Hurricanes. QB Tremayne Harris wasted little time establishing a passing game, competing a 36 yard shot to Roman Hughes, that unfortunately was called back for a holding penalty. On the next set of downs, Harris completed a 9-yard toss to Clarence Brooks, followed by a 7-yard pass to Oliver Lawton, but he saves the best for last, a 65-yard touchdown pass to speedy Jamal Swinton. The extra point was blocked, but Hardeeville had the early lead, 6-0, in the 1st quarter. Unfortunately, timely running by Bluffton, questionable calls by the refs (a.k.a 'the Lost Boys'), and critical injuries to Hughes, and Donald Scott let the game get away from the Hurricanes, who eventually gave up 50 unanswered points. Other great plays... Terrel Knighton's (#34) tackle in the first set of plays for a 5-yard loss... Terrill Housey (#95) crushing stop on a 4th down play in the 1st quarter, Hughes' sack that resulted in a 7-yard loss, Leon Brown's (#13) great block of an extra point, and Tauren Nelson (#99), tackle that prevented an extra point in the 2nd quarter.

Mr. JazzyBro's Game recap
I was able to attend last night's match between the Canes and Bobcats, and what looked to be a very good match in the firs quarter, ended in a rout. The Canes started strong, stopping the Cats on 4th down on the first drive of the game, and then started knit-picking the Bobcats' \backs, as the passing game was on point early on. After an early score, the defense was also stepping up, but then the Cats seem to have turned it up, and exploited the Canes' soft defense, and pretty much ran through them the rest of the way. All in all, Hardeeville was dominated 50-6, but showed some damage with the passing game. My game-changing play, in my opinion, was what I consider an unnecessary risk in going for it on 4th and 2 in the second quarter on their own 26 yard line when the game was still tied up. Very questionable play-calling by the Canes coaching, and the stop turned the full momentum over to the Bobcats who never let go. WIsh the best of luck to the Canes next week in their home opener against Cavalry. I will give my predictions later this week..........
